HELP FAMILIES PUT FOOD BACK ON THEIR TABLES.

Families throughout the Spokane area have been displaced, homes have been lost or damaged, and lives have been turned upside down. Now comes the difficult process of recovery. The P.L.A.T.E. Initiative is raising funds to provide emergency grocery and food assistance to individuals and families affected by the Spokane fires.

BEHIND EVERY NUMBER IS A PERSON.

A parent wondering what happens next. A child whose normal life disappeared overnight. A family returning home to an empty refrigerator. A household that was already struggling before disaster struck. Recovery isn't only rebuilding houses. It's rebuilding everyday life. And sometimes that starts with something as simple as being able to put dinner on the table.

The assistance gap

WHAT IF YOU NEED HELP... BUT DON'T QUALIFY FOR HELP?

Disasters do not only affect people who qualify for traditional assistance. Some households may earn too much to qualify for federal nutrition programs while still struggling to afford food. Others may have exhausted available benefits or suddenly face expenses they never planned for.

Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap research documents that food insecurity reaches households across income levels. This campaign does not state a specific national assistance-gap count without a verified source that supports it.

Dietary needs

FOOD ASSISTANCE SHOULD BE FOOD YOU CAN ACTUALLY EAT.

Disaster does not make food allergies, medical dietary restrictions, ethical food choices, or intolerances disappear. When possible, The P.L.A.T.E. Initiative will make every reasonable effort to match assistance to a household's actual dietary needs.

No family should have to choose between going hungry and eating something that may make them sick.
